Midway started as a small repair shop in a rear garage on Midway Street by Cliff & Esther Lager in 1959. After only two short years Cliff out grew the garage and rented a small building on 7th street, the rent was 75.00 per month but Cliff thought he could make it by selling and servicing appliances and vacuums. The Lager family had a reputation of taking care of their customers; Cliff was known to repair leaky wringer washers and dead ice boxes day and night while his sons were making deliveries to the wide open areas of the High Desert. The business started as a family of 6 trying to do the best they could to make ends meet.
